Major and Gullu are two unemployed young men who aspire to become exorcists and ghostbusters in order to make a living, having grown up watching numerous horror films.

They reside in a rented house where they pray to their close friend 'Raka', whose statue they unearthed while digging across a hill, to help alleviate their poverty.
One day, after obtaining permission from Raka, they decide to host a Halloween party for ghosts at midnight and make the necessary preparations.
Raka's glowing eyes shut abruptly at midnight. Major and Gullu connect a live wire to the eyes' light source in order to repair Raka's eyes.
Unfortunately, they are both electrocuted and rendered unconscious during this maneuver.

During their unconscious state, they enter a different realm of the dead, where they meet Ragini, a benevolent ghost who promises to help them achieve their desires and wealth in exchange for a favour she will ask of them later, which they cannot refuse under any circumstances.
Both Major and Gullu are captivated by her beauty and charm and agree to assist her with her business deal.
The agreement was intended to help impure souls attain moksha (salvation) by exposing the criminals who had wronged them while they were alive.

In exchange for this favour, both Major and Gullu would earn a large sum of money and be required to donate a portion of their earnings to the families of those lost souls, so that the souls would be appeased and attain salvation.
After Major and Gullu regain consciousness, they are surprised to find Ragini, who had appeared in their dream, in their home. Now they realise that, during their unconscious state, they had traversed the netherworld.

Major and Gullu start their own "Phone Bhoot" company with Ragini's assistance after being inspired by her idea. Eventually, their business expands and the phone booth company achieves immense notoriety.
Atmaram, an evil Tantrik who discovers the Phone Bhoot company and plots to destroy it by summoning witches and ghosts, is envious of this.

Ragini thwarts Atmaram's attempts to injure Major and Gullu. Soon, Atmaram discovers that the ghost Ragini who is protecting both Major and Gullu is actually the deceased lover of the late king "Raja Dushyant Singh" and that she and he were killed in a car accident on the highway as part of an evil plot devised by Atmaram to end Dushyant's reign as king and seize his power and wealth.
Ragini's powers were weakened on the day of the lunar eclipse, so Atmaram uses his evil Tantrik powers to capture Ragini in a bottle.
Ragini used Major and Gullu to seek revenge on Atmaram for the murder of her lover Dushyant, whose soul was now imprisoned in Atmaram's treasury of magic bottles.
Major and Gullu feel dejected and duped after Ragini's capture because they have recently realised that Ragini used them to her advantage and manipulated them to seek revenge on Atmaram.

This ghost reveals to them that Ragini is in grave danger and requires their assistance one last time to free many souls, including Dushyant's, from the grasp of Atmaram.
Upon learning this, Major and Gullu enter Atmaram's cave and engage him in a fierce magical battle, during which they deceive him with sinister tricks and free Ragini and Dushyant, who then free the other trapped souls.
The combined strength of all the souls propels Atmaram to the underworld, where he is consumed by hellfire. Ragini and Dushyant reunite joyfully in their astral form and assure Major and Gullu of their future assistance whenever it is required.
